The holiday movie season is upon us. Cable channels, streaming companies, and on-demand platforms have been cranking out the 2024 holiday movies since late October, with many more to come in November and December.
The most prolific purveyor of holiday movie cheer is Hallmark, which has 48 Christmas movies in total — 32 holiday movies on its flagship Hallmark Channel, nine new movies on its Hallmark Mystery channel, and seven exclusively on its Hallmark+ streaming service.
Chances are that if you turn on one of the Hallmark channels on any given night, you’ll be treated to some wholesome holiday entertainment. That said, if you miss a specific Hallmark movie on TV, you can stream it through either Hallmark+ or on Peacock up to 72 hours after its original airdate.
Among the most popular streaming services, Netflix leads the way this year with nine new 2024 holiday movies, including one starring Christmas movie queen Lacey Chabert (“Hot Frosty”) and one featuring her “Mean Girls” co-star Lindsay Lohan (“Our Little Secret”).
Below you’ll find 119 new 2024 Christmas movies, with info on when and how to watch them.
(Note: If you miss a broadcast or cable movie’s original air time, be sure to check out the channel’s website, as many movies are available on-demand with the correct app or a valid cable login.)
Top pick: “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” (Nov. 8)
Amazon’s $250 million Christmas action-adventure movie “Red One” wastes the talents of Chris Evans and everyone else involved. If you must watch, wait until it inevitably lands on Prime Video.
Instead, buy a ticket for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” about a the chaos of planning a small-town Christmas pageant and starring the likes of Lauren Graham (“Gilmore Girls”), Judy Greer (“13 Going on 30”), and Lexington native Pete Holmes (“Crashing”).
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” (Nov. 8)
“Red One” (Nov. 15)
Top pick: “Hot Frosty” (Nov. 13)
If you’re a Hallmark Channel devotee, you know that Lacey Chabert is the queen of Christmas movies. The “Mean Girls” actress is taking her talents to Netflix this holiday season with “Hot Frosty,” in which she plays a recent widow who magically brings a handsome snowman to life. Would it be too on-the-nose to say that this one will melt your heart?
“Meet Me Next Christmas” (Nov. 6)
“Hot Frosty” (Nov. 13)
“The Merry Gentleman” (Nov. 20)

Top pick: “Christmas at Plumhill Manor” (Nov. 16)

“A Carpenter Christmas Romance” (Dec. 21)
“Engaged by Christmas” (Dec. 22)
Top pick: “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” (Nov. 30)
Maybe “most opportunistic pick” is a more apt descriptor than “top pick” for “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” a Hallmark collaboration with the NFL that was clearly greenlit in order to capitalize on the interest pop star Taylor Swift and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s relationship. The film concerns a romance between the team’s Director of Fan Engagement (Tyler Hynes) and a hardcore Chiefs fan (Hunter King) who thinks her family is a lock to win the Fan of the Year contest. It also has Ed Begley Jr. in it, so it can’t that bad, right?
