Fans are disappointed Michael Phelps didn’t race a real shark
When Michael Phelps set off against a great white shark on Sunday, many television viewers were surprised to find out his opponent was not an actual predator.
The Olympic champion lost the 100 meter race with a computer-simulated fish by two seconds. The Discovery Channel’s Shark Week special featured superimposed footage of the shark, whose speed was calculated from data on the swimming speed of sharks.
