Score $12 Tickets to Mount Snow Dec. 12

What could be better than a foot of fresh snow this week? How about $12 lift tickets to Mount Snow in Vermont on Friday? You may be coming down with powder flu that prevents you from going to work on Friday (wink). Mount Snow is celebrating Founders Day, Friday December 12, with $12 lift tickets, which should coincide nicely with fresh snow from this week’s snow storm Damon that is predicted to bring over a foot to ski country.
A little history: on December 12, 1954 Mount Snow opened with two rope tows and two chairlifts serving seven trails. Founder Walter Schoenknecht had purchased the farm land from Rueben Snow, hence the Mount Snow name. It was soon dubbed Fountain Mountain, for the Mount Snow fountain at the base that shot water 400’ in the air powered by 2 600hp motors. The fountain would often freeze creating an impressive ice formation.
Flash forward six decades, Mount Snow now has 20 lifts including a six pack with a blue bubble cover called The Bluebird Express, 83 trails amid 588 acres on four faces, and 253 fan guns to make snow – the most in North America. So Fountain Mountain is now Fan Gun City. Carinthia is Mount Snow’s dedicated terrain park mountain – the largest freestyle park of its kind east of the Rockies.
I can think of at least 12 reasons to ski Mount Snow this Friday, Founders Day, and many of them rhyme with snow — so that’s a buck a reason at $12. Après Ski will feature a Founders Brewing Company Takeover with beer tastings and live music. Ski Mount Snow this Friday for $12, you must buy your ticket 24 hours in advance online.

See you on the slopes!
