Sunday River and Killington Officially Kick Off the Ski Season

The lifts are officially open.
Both Sunday River and Killington kicked off New England’s 2014-15 skiing and riding season on Monday morning, when Sunday River offered free skiing to anyone who arrived in a costume (or $29), while Killington awarded first turns exclusively to its season passholders.
Sunday River offered one route down the mountain on its T2 trail, while Killington had three trails open at 11 a.m. Snowmaking has also started at other ski areas in the region, including Loon, Okemo, and Stowe, as more seasonal temperatures have finally allowed for extended periods of turning on the snow guns.
“Regardless of this weekend’s snowfall, we have the advantage here at Sunday River,” Sunday River president Dana Bullen said. “As pioneers in snowmaking, we continue to explore and upgrade to the newest, most efficient equipment on the market. And, we are as committed to using that equipment as we are to our guests.”
