Sunday River = Locked and Loaded this Spring!

Looking for a venue to hit some great Spring skiing and riding conditions? Ready to attend some very cool events or see some fantastic live music? Maybe you are looking to just throw a few back in the sunshine with friends in the mountains?

Whichever you’re fancying – Sunday River is the answer for the next few weekends.

Keep reading to find out what is happening up at Sunday River for this weekend and next.

This Weekend (March 28th & 29th) the resort is having a Retro 80’s party. Think of the song Dead Man’s Party from the movie Back to School and now you are in the correct spot. That means digging deep into the closet of ski gear. Find that stuff you probably question why you held onto in the first place and bring the goods out for another look.
• Got a pair of “I Ski” shades – perfect
• Anything made of nylon that is day-glo – even better
• Rear entry boats and 205 straight skis – now you are in business
On Saturday the Foggy Goggle will be rocking for Après Ski (3-6 pm) featuring the tunes of an 80’s cover band called Fast Times and you can be certain to hear a few songs that will get you geared up for… The Catwalk – same time and place = show off your 80’s vibe to the crowd. Winners will get prizes. Rumor has it they are giving away some Zink and Ski Totes!
Later in the evening make your way to the White Cap Lodge. Appetite for Destruction, which is a Guns n’ Roses tribute Band will be shaking the rafters. The band is supposedly second to none other than the original act. Tickets are on sale now for $15, this is a 21+ show.
This Weekends Deal: Ski and Ride both Saturday and Sunday this weekend for $89!

Next weekend (April 4th & 5th) things get more insane up at Sunday River. The resort is hosting the annual event which is known as The Parrot Head Festival and it is a great time. The S.G. has been there in the past and will confirm that it is one of the premier spring parties in New England. One of the weekend’s biggest draws is the pond skimming that takes place in the White Cap base area.
No matter what your bag is you can find it during the Buffett inspired Parrot Festival weekend at Sunday River. The S.G.’s personal recommendation is to set up base camp at White Cap Lodge – read that to stand for grabbing a parking spot early and let the tailgating (mayhem) ensue from there. It will be easy…
Note – all proceeds from this event go to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
Running in conjunction with the Parrot Head debauchery is the Bust n’ Burn mogul competition. This is an amateur bump skiing event featuring some of the “Best and Worst” in New England. Besides ego checks and bragging rights – there are actually prizes. The Bust n’ Burn mogul event takes place on a trail visible from a lift the picks up guests at the White Cap Lodge (ground zero for blender sports).

Sunday River is worth a look for some of New Englands best spring skiing and riding during the next few weekends.
Think Corn Snow and Sunshine!
