New Snow for a new Week
Monday brought some of the areas in New England much desired new snow. After a weekend of weather more typical of late April the region needed some cold air to stop the melting. The flakes that fell from the skies were just an added bonus.
Areas in Central VT and NH picked up the most substantial accumulations, some recording over a half foot. Those places would be Killington, Okemo, and Pico in Vermont. While Sunapee, Ragged, Pats Peak in NH faired best of all the New England resorts landing totals in the 7-8 inch range.
Word is that skiing was pretty good this weekend. Let us chalk it up as a nice preview to the mashed potatoes we should see all Spring thanks to the enormous base depths. It so happens that it is just a little early in March for the S.G.’s taste.
The mountains should see additional snows from the disturbance that move through tonight. Looking at the long range weather there may be a storm heading our way for the weekend. Keep an eye on the skies because more fresh flakes are not only welcomed, but needed. Hopefully, the latter half of this work week we will be talking about a return to Powder skiing. Stay tuned…
