Mad River Glen is Encapsulated
I had to say something about this. Mad River Glen used the word “encapsulated” to describe the state of the mountain yesterday on their homepage. It definitely looks like things are shaping up well for them with a cold snap and the chances of more snow in the forecast.
MRG is planning to open on December 12th with some tremendous conditions, weather permitting of course. Good news is the weather should be very cooperative. Mother Nature is still on her own and waiting for the Old Man of Winter to show up in a few weeks.
Check out the ski area’s website. Mad River Glen The weather section is one of the best in the business and is current even though the single is not hauling bodies uphill yet.

We have seen a wintry mix today with some gusty winds. This after 3-4″ of snow on Sunday night, followed by rain and a few warm days. It is the perfect scenario for MRG as it has encapsulated the entire mountain. With forecasts calling for a drop in temps and chances for snow over the next few days, we should develop a nice solid base. Our plan is to open for the season on Friday December 12 but we will open sooner if Mother Nature gives us the opportunity so stay tuned for the latest.
