The Best Thanksgiving skiing for New England in over a Decade!
How quickly things change. On Monday night, I was looking at the weather and was pretty much convinced that the past week and a half of perfect snowmaking was going to be completely washed away. New England braced for a powerful weather system. It looked like all rain…
Not so fast… It Snowed! Many of the mountains checked in with double-digit tallies. Better yet, there is still more in the forecast for Friday.

There areas that did take advantage of the situation and made snow are now in a position we do not see this time of the season often in New England. The Thanksgiving Skiing and Riding is going to be fantastic.
The S.G.’s recommendation is Killington, VT. With more terrain and a full arsenal of options for all abilities and interests, this is a great option for some early season turns.
The following is a release form the resort that details what Killington will be serving up.
KILLINGTON, Vt. (November, 25 2008) – With more than a foot of snow from the latest storm, Killington Resort will be serving up a skiing and snowboarding feast with more than 40 trails and 10 lifts for the Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend, the most Thanksgiving terrain open in the past 10 years.
Lifts will open at 8:00 a.m. throughout the holiday weekend, including the K-1 Express Gondola, Superstar Express Quad and the Ramshead Express Quad, with terrain for all ability levels. The early season terrain park will be open on Mouse run with 12 features. Both the K-1 and Ramshead Lodges will be open featuring rentals, retail, food, guest services and the Adult Learn to Ski and Learn to Ride and children’s Ski School at Ramshead.
I hope everyone gets a chance to get north and make some turns.
Eat turkey and Go Ski,
S.G.
