Take St. Patrick’s Day and Ski!
The day to take off is 3/17/08. Conditions in New England will be improving until then for ski areas up north. There is potential for lots of good powder on the ground Sunday morning!
Shorter Term: Tuesday night and Wednesday areas to the north are going to grab a solid 6”+ plus shot. This will be especially helpful in softening things up for the weekend.
The watch is on for what happens Sat/Sun, but still plenty of time until we get there. I am feeling really, really good about a powder day for the Irish skiers out there.

General Condition Assumptions: I have not skied in New England yet in March. That said I have been paying attention, and realize that the first weekend of the month was another monster snow show.
With that nasty weekend storm behind us, ski conditions have remained intact. A lot of icing kept me off the mountains. I am sure it also kept every other somewhat sane person away. The deal is that places further north got pretty much all ice which could be groomed out, especially with all the good snow still trapped underneath.
Short Story ~ Loose and Frozen Granular. The slopes are in good shape. New snow and things will be great again.
I found this LINK for B-Roll to be encouraging. It is a video clip form Ski NH that was shot Monday, 3/10/08 up at The Balsams Wilderness. Both sounds and looks better than expected.
Use the found Light…
Having Daylight Savings time early is great. The light is very important for skiing and snowboarding. Flat light is dangerous….I do not like flat.
Starting in 2007, most of the United States and Canada observe DST from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, almost two-thirds of the year. The change added an additional month. (The start and end dates were the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October)
Things are not that bad folks. We will get the important snows we are queued up for.
Make it happen = St. Patrick ’s Day skiing in New England
I am looking forward to getting back on the snow.
Think Cold, not spring quite yet.
