Skiing

The March word from Ski VT

I found this breakdown on some factoids and events from Ski Vermont.

Some pretty interesting stuff. There will certainly be more as the days roll towards March. It is the best month to ski in New England…

I still owe the blog a write up on my killah day at Sugarbush North a few weekends back. I will get to that, but for now I offer this 411 from Sugarbush, VT.

The Today Show at Sugarbush

That’s right: Tomorrow, Thursday, February 21st, “Today” will be broadcasting all four hours of its programming live from Sugarbush Resort.

The broadcast kicks off at 7am and the whole “Today” crew will be here. So please be sure to tune in to NBC at 7am on Thursday morning.

Get Out There and Enjoy the Season!
March events at Vermont resorts. Although, spring officially begins on March. 21, it’s also historically Vermont’s snowiest month of the year. There’s a lot of winter left to enjoy, well into April! Check out the Ski Vermont Event Listings.
MARCH IN STOWE IS WINTER AT ITS PEAK
STOWE, Vt. – Stowe Mountain Resort receives an impressive 333″ average inches of snowfall each winter. Last year that number crept up to over 375 inches and this season has already seen a near record for snowfall in December with totals up to twenty feet. Just in case you’re keeping score, that’s on par with most western ski resorts. Another little known fact is that March is typically the snowiest month of the year on Mt. Mansfield in Stowe, Vermont’s highest peak.
JAY GETS EIGHT FEET OF NEW SNOW IN MARCH ALONE
JAY, Vt. – On average, Jay Peak Resort receives upwards of eight feet of natural snow in the month of March alone. Add that to the 244 inches (that’s more than 20 feet) of snow its received already this season, plus longer days filled with sunshine, and clearly March is the time to ski and ride at this Northern Vermont resort.
MARCH MADNESS FOR GROUPS AT OKEMO
LUDLOW, Vt. – Okemo is offering some great deals for groups in March. There’s something exciting about going on a ski trip with a group of family and friends. Skiing and snowboarding are social sports and the camaraderie generated by an assemblage of like-minded enthusiasts creates an atmosphere of adventure. A day of playing in the snow builds memories and Okemo’s group sales professionals work to ensure that those memories will be the best that they can be.
SMUGGS SPRING SEASON SHINES
Q: What are the best reasons to ski & ride at Smuggs in March?
A: The skiing and riding doesn’t get any better, any cheaper, or any more fun than at springtime.
SMUGGLERS’ NOTCH RESORT, Vt. – Spring skiing is just magical – it creates a feeling of pure joy. It’s the longer daylight. It’s the sun and warmth. It’s the softer snow. It’s the chirp of birds and the babble of brooks in the mountains. It is the best time to ski.

STRATTON MOUNTAIN, Vt.- March is always an exciting time of the year at Stratton. Longer days, warmer weather and the return of sunshine make a skier or rider feel more alive and Stratton certainly recognizes that.
