Regional Report: The S.G. made the annual pilgrimage up to Manchester, VT for turkey with the family. From Greenfield, MA up to the junction of routes 30 &11 (where Bromley is) in VT the earth was blanketed with a heavy fog on Thursday.
That was not good. Fog eats snow, it can be worse than rain in certain regards. My uncle told me that when he went to bed Wednesday night there were two inches of snow on his lawn (in Manchester, VT). Around noon on Thursday, the green grass was showing again.
To ensure things got nice and crispy a huge blast of cold air followed, accompanied with strong winds into Saturday morning.
Snow reporting echoed the results with many areas reporting loose granular and one even going so far as to report “frozen” granular, yuck!
No need for alarm, we are still in November and there is snow forecasted for the mountains this week. This freezing of the bases is actually a good thing this time of year, the ground is still not frozen. More on this later.
Happy Monday,
S.G.
