I have been around this event since the 1998 edition. In 2003, I was on the other side of the display tables, working for a resort and at times forcing smiles. I had to deal with a slue of the ever witty, cost conscious, half on their ways to being imbibed skiers. Love these people!
It really was not that bad. I cannot blame any of them. I am not a big fan shopping either. My collection of excessively aging soft and hard gear attests to that. Still shopping for something that you develop a physical bond with (your ski equipment) certainly eases the burden of parting with some greenbacks.
poles anyone? Ski Market stocks the Expo Center with everything you could possibly use on a ski mountain (snowboards are obviously there also)

Tips: What the S.G. thinks.
Get there early if you are looking to purchase something. Best bet is when the doors open Thursday or early on Friday. This especially applies to the following.
Steals on smaller things that will make your season: These entail goggles, gloves, socks, hats, etc. (most go about half price). The inventory on these types of items is limited and these great deals go fast.
Big ticket items: If you are looking for a little more personal (less stressful) sales service get there early. If you are serious about the following and do not know exactly what you want/need. Skis & Boots
lots of deals, cutting edge gear, great price points. Thank Ski Market!

Note: Doing as much research as possible on skis and boots will make your experience all the much better and save everyone time.
Just looking to tickle the snow feathers? Head in Saturday night. That is when the vibe will be in fifth gear. With out a doubt the largest and rowdiest crowd (they do serve beers for a price).
Sunday is usually the chill day however, with the Patriots playing in the evening who knows this season. By then, most of the good stuff for short dollars is long gone. Most of the exhibits are packing up and giving out the last of their schwag. Less they have to bring back to the mountain…

Use the Ski Expo as a resource!
This event is an incredible way to learn. It makes the door charge worth every penny if you take advantage of the resources provided. Whether you are thinking about a destination ski trip this season or just looking to speak with manufacturers about their product there is no other place at any other time where or when you will be able to find such a collection of knowledgeable individuals.
Take advantage of this and talk to people. It will pay off big time later in the season when you are riding the chairs.
Get to the Ski Expo and Get Some,
