Skiing

Green Light!

You know that first guitar riff of some bad 1980’s song that always seems to get you fired up when you are in the car alone?

That is what I feel like today. The radar loops are stuffed with blue. The new snow reports are lit up with some places colleting over a foot of fresh in the past 48 hours. Honestly, it comes upon us fast here in New England and it is time to go skiing. Goosh the sounds familiar…

In the course of 5 days we have basically go from zero to hero. (Patting myself on the back, revisit Mondays blog entry – I should be a weather person.) Granted, as wrote prior, I will reiterate that I cannot recommend making turns anywhere but on open terrain if you at all value your edges and bases. The areas have been making snow all week, and got a much needed push from Mother Nature. She must be trying to tidy up the joints for the official arrival of Old Man Winter in a few short days.

The Situation: It is cold today and snowing. However some mild air is in store for the weekend. Coupled with the new snow this will make for a few days of very pleasant skiing and riding. Get out there early tomorrow. It will be crowded and the conditions will deteriorate as the morning wanes to afternoon. Better to cram your dozen runs in pre-noon and then enjoy a leisurely lunch.

The S.G. is going to make a move north. Been sitting on my hands to long this season and this week of weather is all I have been waiting for. The only hurdle – I would like to watch my alma-mater play a game of football tonight (was really disappointed to find out it was scheduled for a Friday night slot and not Saturday – for completely selfish reasons) out in Montana on ESPN2 in HD.
Anyhow, this will be a good weekend up north. Even if it is just a day trip, there are plenty of open areas within a few hours drive from the Hub.
Enjoy the snow and GO UMASS!
