Midweek Ski Check

As I poked around the internet on Wednesday morning a few things caught my interest.

Primarily: Cold Air and some natural SNOW

Finally, and I mean finally, some seasonal weather for the Ski Mountains of New England. The areas mountain operations have been blasting their snowmaking all week. A dozen, give or take, are already open. Many more are slated to join the party and start spinning the lifts this Friday. Conditions are improving exponentially.
Several areas that are easy day trips form Boston are in the batter’s circle for this Friday: Loon, NH – Wachusett, MA – Sunapee, NH

There is also talk of another dropping of natural snow on Thursday night. More on this later in the week. Plus, there is always a chance for additional accumulations form Lake Effect snows with the cold air still rushing in form Canada.
Either way you cut it, this weekend is going to be the first one that will feel like winter. There is finally snow on ground across the states of New England. I would not be taking my nice new skis off of the snowmaking trials into the trees quite yet, but the open terrain should provide ample opportunity to get out and bang the dust and rust off of all the gear for the season upon us.
Best chance for Powder: Stowe, Smugg’s or Jay Peak. BUT – bring the rock skis if you plan on doing a little snooping to grab a stash.

Hopefully the forecast holds true and the mountains receive snowfall from Thursday through Saturday.
We are Due!
