Deals: A second look
In some fashion there are deals at every ski area in New England.
Most are also the same as last years.
Most are one day events.
These ‘one and done’ types are usually the best value. One could spend hours updating their Outlook calendar with reminders. Fortunately for all of you, I have already done that.
Stay tuned to the message boards and you will get a heads up.
So, bearing the above in mind, I sifted through the ski print out there across the region this weekend. Great information – but I found it overwhelming in volume. I have been looking at these things for seasons. I have read them with the gleaming eye of a child thinking about snowdays, when I was a frugal minded student, as an industry employee – fearful of misquotation, and this weekend looking to see what may have been missed or overlooked.
Here are ‘fresh’ deal options this year that seemed to have snuck under the radar.
“Hey, where we gunna find a deal?”
Below is a quick list of Ski Guru approved winners.
Note: These are running all season long—except during holiday periods.
Pico, VT ~ Midweek Deal
$50 = lesson, rental, lift ticket & lunch.
Considering you can day trip the place from Boston (2:45 each way) this is a five star sick day Steal.
Wachusett Mountain, MA ~ New Transportation Option
$6 = One way ticket on the Ski Train (think; a. more affordable than gas even at $2/gallon & b. the Ski Train is cool)
Back and forth from Boston’s North Station to Fitchburg’s commuter rail stop every Saturday and Sunday.
This is an idea that you stumble up on and the only question is “How come nobody thought of this sooner?”
From Fitchburg a shuttle service brings guests to the lifts (15 -20 minutes). I hope, Really, REALLY HOPE that they also can figure out how to run the Ski Train at night during the week for the after work crowd. More, for sure, to follow…
Stratton, VT ~ Season Discount Card
$59 = one free lift ticket; saves $30 on midweek tickets, $20 on weekends & $10 on holidays.
People have bashed Stratton for years. Primarily because of price points… Now those people are going to have to find another reason. This debate may actually be a forum worthy thread LINK. Do the math, Great Deal!
Bretton Woods, NH ~ Family Ticket
Regular Ticket Rate = Mom & Dad can purchase one transferable/interchangeable lift ticket. They just cannot use it at the same time. Make Sense? The more I think about this, the more I like the idea. Brilliant
Magic Mountain, VT ~ Midweek Deal
$25 = one day lift ticket
Dirt cheap, stealing runs…
unidentified, did not get a deal…
That is enough. Plenty of vertical feet still to cover. It is going to get cold and start snowing soon.
We are DUE,
