Mixed Bag
Hot Spots:
The Rockies have getting pounded with snow and the skiing out there is tremendous. Pretty much everything is 100% open and game to be had. People getting on airplanes for ski trips have good reason to smile. European skiing is also brilliant right now. That region of the globe has been off to an equally incredible start seeing record storms and snow events in late December.

Tip – watch the weight of your ski bag, the limit is 50 pounds; I figured that out the hard way last season heading out to Tahoe. Airlines will charge you $$$ for every pound you bag is over.

The Conditions and Weather:
I will say this, and with very high confidence. One Storm (anything that drops more than a foot) and New England skiing will be Splendid. With luck it may happen mid-week for the North Country. The mountains have done an outstanding job recovering form the glitch that we had a couple weeks ago. December was so good prior that all was not lost; conditions were just hindered a bit and have now recovered.
Keep an eye on Snow Country and stay in tune with what is happening. Also, this can get pretty in depth but it is worth checking into if you are a weather junkie. Matt Noyes of NECN weather blog.
Check the January Events for links to all sorts of information on what is going on in New England’s mountains.

The Real Steal of a Deal:
Looking for a MLK weekend Deal? Here is the best I have seen – from Jay Peak.
The 6-pack is back and in a major way. If you’re looking for a ticket special for this coming weekend, that being the Martin Luther King Holiday, than most resorts will be turning a blind eye. Not so here in the capital of all things snow. Get 5 of your buddies together (you don’t even need to be particularly close to them, just make sure the bodies are warm), and head up/down our way and $39 per person will get you the following
• A lift ticket to enjoy the most snow in the East.
• Lunch and drink in our Tramside Cafeteria.
• A 2 for 1 lift ticket good to come back and visit us this season.
To wit, this deal carries an approximate value of nearly $125 and it’s yours for just $39. Of course, there are certain hoops to jump through, but they’re easy. Just send me an e-mail to [email protected]
And tell me the name of your ‘group’ when you’d like to come and how you’re going to pay. Canadian guests have to pay in cash to get this at par. See? Easily jump-throughable. This offer is good any day from Tuesday the 10th through and including Monday, January 16th – Martin Luther King Day.
