POW POW ~ WOW!

The Nor’easter that barreled through New England earlier his week caught everyone a bit off guard. We saw the headlines, read the reports, and heard the whispers of huge snowfall potentials up north – but who would’ve thought?

Answer, only the most optimistic or insane amongst us.

The current situation:
• The Patriots have played only 6 games (1st place in the AFC East)
• Not daylight savings time yet
• Foliage still on trees
• Ski areas open = Zero (to change very soon)
• Snow in the mountains = Tons
This storm absolutely cracked the Northern parts of New England depositing over a foot at southern Vermont resorts and an awe-inspiring 40 inches at Sugarloaf! Wide spread power outages and downed trees from the weight of the snow are the norm. Folks, it is still only October.
Thank you Mother Nature.
Last week projected opening dates were discussed. Today, I am happy to admit that I was thinking to far down the slope. Barring any disasters from the heavens (knock on wood) this could materialize into the best early season and holiday skiing we have seen in many moons.
The word around ski country…
The game is afoot dear Watson.
Wildcat, NH declared that they might be spinning their lifts as soon as this Friday! This last storm gave them 3 FFET at the summit to work with. Locals have been skinning up and packing down lines. Keep an eye on their website if you got the itch to shred da gnar this weekend.

Killington, VT obviously caught wind of this news. Recording over two feet in less than a week has prompted all of the doctors, lawyers and Indian chiefs to congregate. Thursday Morning at 11:00 AM they will make the call on their opening date. Check the website for an announcement.
