Pot Luck Reports

Whew, busy weekend, a ton going on to report from ski country.

On the home front, I gave the Jeep a winter’s prep. A good wash and wax to defend the finish against endless hours of windshield time on the sand and salt laden interstates and back roads of New England. Also, went through the gear (uugghhh, it is all old and beat to heck) and I am ready on a moments notice when the snows calling.

Sunday, picked up a new shovel View image at Lowes for $14.95, the perfect tool for digging the ride out, building kickers or sledding, if so inclined.

The appetizer: A system dropped snows all over the North Country this weekend. Our friend Jim Roemer was calling for this on Friday and as far as I know he was the only meteorologist to do so.
Here are some pictures taking at Killington on Sunday after they recorded 10 inches.

Pass Deal: Pico season passes are still on sale. This is such a good move if you have a house up there and have grown leery of the crowds, scene and hassle of their bigger neighbor to the East. The top half of Pico is some of the best unspoken terrain in New England; trees, steeps, bumps, and views. Fact – Pico is the sixth tallest peak in the state of Vermont.
Here are the deets…
Early season rates available until Halloween 10/31/05. The Pico Season Pass will have no blackout dates and pays for itself in six visits. Plus, Pico pass holders will be able to purchase Killington lift tickets at 1/2 price after Pico Mountain closes.
Adult (ages 19-64)$299
Young Adult (ages 13-18) $279
Junior (ages 6-12)/Senior (ages 65+) $269

Haystack, VT: Word on the street is that da Stack will not be operational this season. The mountain was recently purchased from American Ski Company by a group of private investors who have big plans for the winters to come. Hopefully they will not frown on poachers hiking up for some fresh pow shots – the trails are still very skiable. The Witches (their expert section top left from the base) offer several interesting slopes. Once you hoof it up there you can knock off a good four or five runs in a half day. You did not read that here though…
Easy like Sunday morning,
