Sage advice = Be Ready.
Think back to the 03/04 season. The New England skiing triumphant of VT, NH & ME got completely buried, it was only December 5-6 of 2003. People play golf on the Cape that time of year. Do you remember that storm? If you skied with it you most certainly do. There were upwards of 30 inches blanketing Southern VT & NH, with reports of 40 plus further north. Digging out of over 50’ across ME was the norm.
Spectacular early season skiing!

Everyone fortunate enough to be around the mountains that time thought it couldn’t get any better, they were wrong. Only a week after everything was finally dug out from that nor’easter, another two feet of pow to the peeps. Not even officially winter yet.
Q: I am planning a trip up north, when is the best skiing of the season?
A: When it snows.
Reality check, this is New England. ‘You don’t like the weather? Wait a minute and it will change…’ Same 03/04 season all that glorious snow was destroyed by lots of hot water before the Holiday Vacations.
Conclusion: When it snows is when you go. If you can afford yourself the luxury, get to your stool at the local before the flakes fly.
But how will you know when to go? Check back here…or do your own homework. These websites will enable you to make knowledgeable decisions. Create a weather folder in your explorer favorites and save the links. (having your favorite resorts zip code handy helps)
