The Porter Square breakfast staple is hosting the pop-up Rabottini’s Pizza, owned by Dan Roberts, a member of the baking crew at Bagelsaurus since the shop’s opening in 2014. Before joining the Bagelsaurus team, Roberts worked with Brian Spangler making cheesy pies at Apizza Scholls in Portland, Oregon.

“I am a passionate lifelong pizza maker,” Roberts said in an email. “Homemade pizza was a mainstay of my father and grandmother when I was a kid.”

Roberts said he has been playing around with pizzas at the bagel shop for a while (and pizza bagels have graced the shop’s menu in the past), but that Rabottini’s Pizza only began selling its square pies out of the shop two weeks ago.

Bagelsaurus owner Mary Ting Hyatt said customers’ responses to the pop-up has been “wonderful.”

” [Dan] has been experimenting at home and at the shop for awhile, and we have all been happy testers,” Hyatt said in a statement. “His square pies are really incredible: great balance of soft, flavorful dough, the right amount of ooze and salt, simple tomato sauce, toppings done right. Proud to be selling it!”

Rabottini’s will be selling slices at Bagelsaurus from noon until 3 p.m. (or when the shop sells-out) on Fridays. You can grab a slice of cheese pizza for $4, or you can opt for toppings for $4.75.
