The “Chipotle of pizza” is coming to Cambridge—and you can try it for free this Friday.

Blaze Pizza, a build-your-own pizza chain, will open its first Massachusetts location Thursday, at 1 Canal Park, near the Cambridgeside Galleria and the Lechmere MBTA station.

Executive chef Bradford Kent’s menu offers custom pizzas where customers have the option to mix-and-match their crusts, sauces, cheeses, and toppings to make a crispy, cheesy creation all their own. The restaurant also offers eight signature pizzas, gluten-free dough, vegan cheeses, and salads on its menu.

Each pie is fast fire’d and served within three minutes, according to Cambridge location owner Jamal Bourote.

“This is not a slice sitting under a heat lamp that’s then reheated for you,” he told Boston.com. “It’s a whole 11-inch pie and all 36 toppings are free; we don’t charge extra.”

And on Friday, the new location won’t be charging at all.

Bourote said when customers follow Blaze Pizza on social media, they will get a free build-your-own pizza if they stop by the shop on Friday from 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Blaze plans to open two Boston restaurants before the end of the summer: one in Fenway (not all that surprising since Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner backs the pizzeria) and one in City Place in the Theater District.
