Boston Restaurants, Hurting From Snowstorms, Turn to Hashtag, Specials
The silver lining to the storm clouds perpetually hovering over Boston may have arrived in the form of $2 tacos and cheap drink specials.
Restaurants have taken a hit in recent weeks, as inclement weather kept people inside. In response, a group of local restaurants has banded together to drum up business, using the hashtag #DigOutDineOut and a Facebook page to get the word out about specials like this one:

The campaign includes several area restaurant groups and individual restaurants, and is supported by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association.
“Local restaurants are facing serious economic consequences after six days of widespread closures during a traditionally slow period,’’ said MRA President and CEO Bob Luz. “We encourage Bostonians to embrace winter and dine out locally.’’
The initiative was created by executive chef Kevin Long, a Big Night Entertainment Group partner.
“We all may compete, but we also band together to support each other in times of need,’’ he said. “We are all in this together, and these deals are a great way for us all to start to bounce back.’’
Even the mayor’s on board with this one.
