If you grew up in New England, you’ve likely spent time at Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire.

The park, located about 40 miles north of Boston, opened in 1902 and still operates today. When it first opened, its attractions were limited to canoeing, a circle swing, sporting events, and the Penny Arcade. Its Dancehall Theater became a popular entertainment venue in the 1930s to 1950s, attracting performers such as Duke Ellington and Frank Sinatra.
