At MIT Museum in Cambridge, families can take part in 3D programs and hands-on activities every Sunday.

At the EcoTarium in Worcester, families will explore a new summer exhibit, one of its largest to date: “Wild Music: Experience the Sounds and Songs of Life.’’

The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst will host a Children’s Book Festival.

And military families can enjoy it all for free, thanks to the Blue Star Museums program.

More than 2,000 participating museums nationwide, including 68 across Massachusetts, will offer free admission for military families between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

The program was created five years ago by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Defense Department, and Blue Star Families (a non-profit organization that supports military families) as a way to say thank you to our military.
