Where in Rhode Island Is This Scenic Waterfront?

Do you know where this scenic waterfront is? Butch Lombardi

This scenic New England waterfront is located in a township known for its sandy beaches and sprawling farmland. Initially a part of Massachusetts, the town was ceded to Rhode Island in the 18th century and became the original home of Brown University. Later it thrived as a whaling and ship-building mecca. And today it remains one of the area’s only working waterfronts with restaurants, antique shops, a beach, and a park.

Butch Lombardi, a lifetime resident who snapped the above photo, considers it among the most versatile scenes in New England.

“Any time the weather, change of seasons, or moonrise creates a chance to capture the waterfront in a different light, I will take the opportunity to photograph it,’’ he said. “I think the way it looks in snow probably gives it its most colonial setting, reminding us of how things looked so many years ago.’’
