Hiking

There are 17 miles of well-marked trails on the island. Pick up trail maps at the boat launches or several places on the island. Note: Leave your bikes at home; they’re not permitted on the trails and the rest of the town is easily accessed on foot. 

The Monhegan Museum

Located in the former lighthouse keeper’s house, with exhibits on maritime history and seasonal art shows; donations accepted.  

Swim Beach

The only safe place to swim on the island; it’s small and cold, but good for a dunk on hot summer days.
