Amidst rumors of marriage troubles with Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez has canceled her nationwide concert tour, with representatives saying the singer will be “taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends” instead.
In a statement posted on her website, Lopez said that she was “devastated” by the decision to cancel her tour, which was set to kick off June 26 in Orlando and included a Boston date on August 7 at TD Garden.
“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down,” Lopez wrote. “Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.”
Tour organizer Live Nation also released a statement, writing, “Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends.”
Even before its cancellation, Lopez’s tour faced problems. In March, less than a month after the tour was announced, Lopez canceled seven scheduled shows amid low ticket sales. Then in April, Lopez announced that the tour — originally named “This Is Me… Now” after her latest album — had been rebranded as a greatest hits tour.
According to Live Nation, fans who purchased tickets for Lopez’s Boston show through Ticketmaster should be automatically refunded.
The cancellation of Lopez’s tour comes amid growing rumors of marital troubles between her and Affleck, who rekindled their decades-old relationship in 2021 and married in 2022.
Concern over the stability of Affleck and Lopez’s relationship first surfaced when the Cambridge native didn’t join Lopez at the Met Gala, where the singer/actress was serving as co-chair of the annual fashion soirée.
TMZ then obtained photos and videos over multiple days of Affleck seemingly living at a rental home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles instead of the couple’s $60 million Beverly Hills mansion.
Sources told multiple outlets, including People, Entertainment Tonight, and Us Weekly, that the couple was living separately while Affleck was filming “The Accountant 2.”
Lopez was also photographed around the same time seemingly house-hunting in Los Angeles.
The living arrangement was first discovered during a 47-day streak of Affleck and Lopez not being photographed together in public, during which Affleck was captured by paparazzi not wearing his wedding band.
Two days after appearing sans band, Affleck and Lopez arrived together for a movie event while both wearing their rings.
