The Who’s Roger Daltrey has a message for fans: Don’t smoke weed near the stage at our show
He says he's “totally allergic’’ to the stuff.
Good thing The Who will be playing under the stars at Fenway Park late this summer.
Roger Daltrey, the band’s legendary front man, unloaded on fans at Madison Square Garden on Monday for smoking marijuana near the stage.
Apparently, the 75-year-old singer can’t tolerate being around weed, and doesn’t want the smoke wafting in his direction while he performs.
In a YouTube video capturing his warning to the New York City crowd, Daltrey says he’s “totally allergic’’ to the stuff and that it wreaks havoc with his still-substantial voice. He wraps up his tirade with a simple message to the herb-smoking crew: “So [expletive] you!’’

The British band rolls into Boston on its 2019 North American Moving On! Tour, playing at Fenway on Sept. 13. Besides Daltrey, the line up includes windmilling guitarist, singer, and songwriter Pete Townshend, the band’s cofounder.
For fans hoping to get close to the Fenway stage (leave smoking materials at home, naturally) on what’s has been hinted as the band’s final tour, proximity won’t come cheap. As of Wednesday morning, StubHub had Row 1 tickets priced at $4,180 each. But if you can see for miles, box seats at the stadium are available for much, much less.
