Watch the Dropkick Murphys explain the stories behind their new songs live in Boston
The band's new album "11 Short Stories" touches on some weighty subjects.
Less than a week after the release of their latest album, the Dropkick Murphys are in Boston to shed a little light on the story behind “11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory.”
In a live performance Wednesday in front on an intimate crowd at WBGH’s studios in Brighton, the Boston-based punk band is performing their new album, as well as explaining the stories behind each new song. The show, which begins at 7 p.m., is also being live-streamed on Facebook.

As The Boston Globe recently reported, “11 Short Stories” touches on how the opioid crisis has “devastated” the lives of people close to the band members. The album, which is the Dropkicks’ ninth, also includes a song about the Boston Marathon bombings.
The band will also close out the show Wednesday with a classic song from a past album, selected by the audience and Facebook fans during the show. The smart money has to be on local favorites like “Tessie” or “I’m Shipping up to Boston.”
