Boston Music Awards announce venue change, new ownership for 2016
New website features bits of history throughout its 29 years.
Since 1987, the Boston Music Awards has celebrated the work of local bands, artists, and songwriters with an annual ceremony each winter. After several venue changes in recent years, the awards show—now under new ownership—is once again switching its home.
The 2016 Boston Music Awards, taking place December 8, will be held at the House of Blues on Lansdowne St. This is the first move by Paul Armstrong, who earlier this month increased the ownership stake under his company Redefined to 100%. Previous co-owner Jake Brennan, who has produced the event since 2008, will remain involved as co-chair of the the Boston Music Awards advisory board.
Along with the venue and ownership change, the Boston Music Awards website has a new look. The new site contains digital archives of the winners and hall of fame inductees, along with bits of relevant press throughout the years.
The Boston Music Awards nomination process will begin in the coming weeks. Early bird tickets for the 2016 event are currently on sale via the BMA’s website.
