Six More Boston Calling Festivals On the Way
Boston Calling is here to stay.
On Sunday, the folks at BostInno reported that the music and arts festival had signed a contract with the city, extending its semiannual City Hall Plaza run through September 2017.
That makes six more festivals in the next three years.
Brian Appel, one of Boston Calling’s founders, confirmed the terms of the festival’s contract to Boston.com via phone on Monday afternoon.
An unnamed BostInno source claimed that Boston Calling had “looked into the field along the Mystic River at Assembly Row’’ as a potential venue, but Appel told Boston.com “as of now’’ the plan is to keep it at City Hall Plaza.
The most recent edition of the festival, which ran Sept. 5-7, drew about 45,000 people to see acts like Lorde, The Replacements, Childish Gambino, and Nas x The Roots.
