Did U2 Rip Off a Boston Band?

U2 members Bono, left, and Larry Mullen Jr. performed during an announcement of new products by Apple and of their new album on Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Cupertino, Calif. AP

Is it out of the realm of possibility for U2 to have sampled a Boston-based band’s track?

One of the tracks off U2’s new album “Songs of Innocence’’ is called “Raised By Wolves.’’ During the song’s chorus, Bono echoes the title, a part that sounds eerily reminiscent of Boston-based band Battle House’s 2012 released track “Wolves.’’

Battle House’s chorus sings “Like you were raised by wolves,’’ while U2’s sings “Raised by wolves, we were raised by wolves.’’

One of Battle House’s members, Doug Harry, brought the lyrical similarities to light on Facebook Friday night.

You can listen to the Battle House track from “Leaves of Blank’’ on their website and compare it to the U2 track for free on iTunes.
