Warren Haynes Rocks Out with the Boston Pops
Legendary guitarist Warren Haynes reunited with the Boston Pops earlier this week for a pair of rocking performances on May 13 and 14.
As a part of the program and tour, “A Jerry Garcia Symhonic Celebration,’’ Haynes jammed with the orchestra while playing the late Garcia’s $700,000 classic guitar, The Wolf.
The set list included the Garcia classics “Dark Star,’’ “Bird Song,’’ and “Morning Dew,’’ as well as tunes from the Grateful Dead’s “Terrapin Station.’’
“It’s a very unique experience because — well, let’s start with the fact that I had never worked with an orchestra before last year,’’ Haynes recently told Boston.com. “I had always wanted to do something but never had, so it was a wonderful opportunity for me. And doing the music of Jerry Garcia, it was a very enticing opportunity as well.’’
Haynes previously toured with the Celebration in 2013. He will be hitting the road with them again this year with stops in Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Louis this month.
The Celebration makes its next stop at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Conn. tonight at 7:30 p.m.
