‘Buddhist Monks’ Breakdance in Honor of Beastie Boys’ MCA
People gathered in New York City this past weekend for ’’MCA Day,’’ where people honor Adam “MCA’’ Yauch, a member of the rap group the Beastie Boys. The 47-year-old Yauch died on May 4, 2012 after a long battle with salivary gland cancer.
Four men in particular made the occasion noteworthy when they paid homage to Yauch and his Buddhist beliefs by breakdancing to the Beastie Boys song “Ch-Check It Out’’ while dressed as Buddhist monks. Go ahead and imagine what that looks like, then multiply it by awesome, and you’ll get this video.

Breakdancing is hard enough, let alone doing it in costume. The dancers (Franklin Chen, Jason Ng, Erich Reyes, and Stephen Pyo) deserve serious respect for their skills. Give it to them by watching this video again and again. It’s worth it.
