Here’s a look at the trailer for ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy,’ featuring LeBron James
The movie hits theaters July 16.
Basketball fans who love to compare Michael Jordan and LeBron James ad nauseam – rather than simply appreciate their individual greatness – will now have another barometer by which to measure their stardom outside of the sport as well.
James is following in Jordan’s footsteps once again, as he stars in “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” While it will be difficult to top the 1996 original, it appears the sequel at least has some potential.
A trailer emerged via Twitter on Saturday, and it features the usual motley crew alongside James. Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, and Daffy Duck – and yes, Granny – all have plenty of air time, as do the other classic Looney Tunes characters.
The video begins with James pressuring his son to play basketball when the son isn’t as interested in the sport. James then gets transported to an alternate universe, his son disappears, and the ruler of the domain tells him the only way he’ll get his son back is if they play a little basketball.

James then meets the Looney Tunes and starts to accept his new reality. He even throws down a lob from Lola Bunny in a freeze frame that resembles the iconic photo of James and Dwyane Wade circa 2010.
