Adam Sandler recreates iconic golf swing for ‘Happy Gilmore’ 25th anniversary, draws response from Shooter McGavin
"Shooter McGavin, this is for you..."
The rivalry continues.
A quarter-century after Adam Sandler’s Happy Gilmore won the coveted Gold Jacket with an unlikely championship victory over Shooter McGavin, both fictional golfers returned through the magic of Twitter.

First, Sandler posted a thank you message to fans of the 1996 film in which he recreated his unorthodox long drive. You can’t see where the ball landed, but it looked pretty good off the tee.
That drew responses — first from actor Ben Stiller, who portrayed an evil orderly at the facility where Happy’s grandmother was forced to live.
That’s a beautiful swing Mr. Gilmore. Congrats on your anniversary, and being such a loving grandson. So happy to be a small part of taking good care of her during her “golden years”. 😉

That was quickly followed by a reply from the account Shooter McGavin, with actor Christopher McDonald staying completely in character, and sinking a living room putt.

Fans are sharing their favorite moments from the film in the replies to the actors’ tweets. Scrolling through, it’s not hard to find clips of Happy brawling with Bob Barker or getting revenge on the gator that took Chubbs’ hand.
