Jon Stewart and Steve Carell might be reuniting for a new film directed by Stewart called “Irresistible,’’ according to Variety.

Carell, who worked alongside Stewart as a correspondent on “The Daily Show’’ from 1999 to 2005, is one of the top choices for the lead role in the film, said to be a “political satire.’’ Stewart is slated to direct and produce the film, but plot details remain a mystery.

Stewart made his directorial debut in 2014 with his film “Rosewater,’’ a political drama that told the story of a journalist captured and interrogated by Iranian forces who suspected him of being a spy.
