Officer injured in shootout with marathon bombers issues ‘spoiler alert’ for ‘Patriots Day’
Richard “Dic” Donohue, the retired MBTA Transit Police sergeant who was critically injured during the gunfight with the Tsarnaev brothers in Watertown following the 2013 marathon bombing, issued a “spoiler alert” Wednesday night on Twitter after watching the premiere of the film Patriots Day.
Spoiler alert: the cop that got shot at the end of #PatriotsDayMovie survives. I have proof!

Patriots Day, which stars Dorchester native Mark Wahlberg, premiered in Boston Wednesday night with the film’s actors walking the red carpet alongside the people they portray.
Donohue nearly bled to death after a bullet severed his femoral artery during the shootout. He returned to duty after two years of recovery. Citing physical limitations from his injuries, he retired in February.
Donohue tweeted a photo from inside the theater, later adding, “Real life is much crazier and more unpredictable than Hollywood!”
My parents are here tonight. Let’s hope this does them proud. #PatriotsDayMovie #BostonStrong pic.twitter.com/oqihXpSC1H
