The first trailer for Ben Affleck’s return to the director’s chair was released Thursday on YouTube.

Set in the Prohibition-era 1920s, Live By Night stars Affleck as Joe Coughlin, the Boston police superintendent’s son who turns to a life of crime, enticed by power and money. However, Coughlin makes a big mistake when he steals a powerful mob boss’s money and girlfriend, according to the movie’s website.

“The fiery affair ends in tragedy, setting [Coughlin] on a path of revenge, ambition, romance and betrayal that propels him out of Boston and up the ladder of Tampa’s steamy rum-running underworld,” the site says.

Adapted from Dennis Lehane’s Boston-based 1920s crime drama of the same title, Live By Night was directed and produced by Affleck, who wrote the screenplay and shares the screen with Elle Fanning, Chris Messina, Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana, and Chris Cooper.

The film’s crew was seen filming in the Boston area in November, transforming the streets of the North End, among other area locations, into a historical set:
