Officials: Movie starring Jack Black shot at Rhode Island State House
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — State officials say producers of the upcoming comedy film, “The Polka King,” starring Jack Black paid $3,000 to use the Rhode Island State House this week.
Black has been filming in the state since July. He spent much of Tuesday and Wednesday filming at the State House, which is being used as the backdrop for the story about a Pennsylvania polka player’s attempt to get rich.
Steven Feinberg, of the Rhode Island Film and Television Office, tells The Providence Journal that the state charges a daily rate for filming on state property. They had faced questions that productions were costing the state money.
Feinberg says filmmakers also shot at a maximum security prison in Cranston. Filming in Rhode Island was expected to be completed on Thursday.
