‘Ocean’s Eleven’ is getting a spinoff with an all-women cast
With Mindy Kaling, Rihanna, Sandra Bullock, and more.
Rumors have been circulating for months about a potential female-leading spinoff to George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s Ocean’s franchise. Said rumors put Sandra Bullock at the helm of the project, Gary Ross in the director’s chair, and Cate Blanchett as part of the cast. Now, it seems that the gossip is true. The movie with Bullock, Ross, and Blanchett not only has been reported to have an official greenlight, but the majority of the leading cast has also seemingly been secured. On Wednesday, Deadline first announced the news that Warner Bros.’s Ocean’s spinoff will have a core cast of eight instead of 11. Both Deadline and Variety reported that — wait for it — Rihanna (Battleship/the singer/Bad Girl RiRi), Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech), Mindy Kaling of Cambridge (The Mindy Project), Anne Hathaway (Catwoman), and Awkwafina (Neighbors 2) were all close to signing deals to appear in the film. The Hollywood Reporter reported that those actresses have been confirmed to be joining the cast. The Hollywood Reporter also wrote that the movie is dubbed Ocean’s Ocho. These casting additions bring the total number of leading cast members up to seven, so the movie is still in need of one more star to make eight. And now, some reactions to the movie news, courtesy of Twitter.

‘Ocean’s 8’ will feature 8 female thieves instead of 11 male ones. Got to give them credit for sticking to the paid on the dollar ratio.
