If you aren’t familiar with the film, it chronicles the in-depth reporting The Boston Globe conducted into the Roman Catholic Church’s cover-up of sexual abuse by priests. The months-long investigation turned into a series of articles published in the early 2000s.
For the publishing industry, Spotlight’s win felt like a win for journalism, specifically local, investigative reporting.
