Ricky Gervais cracks a joke about Ben Affleck cheating, Matt Damon (sort of) laughs

At the Golden Globes Sunday night, Ricky Gervais welcomed Ben Affleck’s other half, Matt Damon, to the stage.
Ben Affleck’s personal life hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing this past year, so a joke about it from the awards show host was pretty much inevitable. Gervais had warned he was going to go after things starlets “have done,’’ after all.
“Our next presenter is the star of the hilarious comedy The Martian,’’ Gervais said with a dramatic laugh, pointing out the absurdity of The Martian being nominated in the Golden Globes’s comedy categories.
He added: “He’s also the only person who Ben Affleck hasn’t been unfaithful to. Please welcome Matt Damon.’’
Matt Damon approached the stage chuckling — to shake the awkwardness? Because he really did think it was funny? Guess we’ll never know.
