Here’s Ricky Gervais’s Golden Globes joke about Spotlight

It’s from his monologue, of course.

Ricky Gervais returned to the Golden Globes stage Sunday night, opening with the exciting monologue he promised. And he didn’t disappoint.

Among his many outrageous jokes in his opening spiel alone, Gervais made a joke about the movie Spotlight, nominated for three Golden Globes this year.

He said:

The excellent Spotlight has been nominated. The Catholic Church are furious about the film because it exposes that five percent of all their priests have molested children and been allowed to continue to work without punishment. Roman Polanski called it ‘the best date movie ever.’’’
