Sunday that two films about the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 are becoming one project.

It had already been reported in 2013 that screenwriters for The Fighter had picked up the rights to David Wedge and Casey Sherman’s book Boston Strong. Mark Wahlberg’s project Patriots Day, in which Wahlberg was supposed to star as police commissioner Ed Davis, was also in the works. Now the Globe reports that Wahlberg and the producers of Patriots Day, CBS Films, have bought the rights to the Boston Strong project.

Due to this development, Wahlberg’s role has shifted: He’ll now star as Boston Police Detective Danny Keeler. Boston Strong the book follows Keeler, a major player at the finish line bombings and in the hunt for the Tsarnaev brothers in April 2013.
