Mark Wahlberg will suit up as a LAPD detective in New Line’s upcoming comedy Partners, according to Deadline.

While the actor is no stranger to buddy cop films, Deadline reports that the project will offer a new take on the genre by pairing the star with a female partner.

Details on the plot are thin, but it’s said to involve Wahlberg’s character falling in love with a woman after a one-night stand. Things get complicated when he finds out that she’s the FBI agent who will be bossing him around on a high-profile case.

Wahlberg has a busy couple of years ahead of him as he already has a number of projects in the works.

Wahlberg is currently in the middle of shooting the BP oil spill drama Deep Water Horizon and is also producing the Boston Marathon bombing flick Patriots’ Day. The later is rumored to feature Wahlberg as Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.

As if he didn’t have enough on his plate, the star will be playing a CIA agent opposite Ronda Rousey in the action-flick Mile 22, which is set to hit theaters some time next year.

Since Partners needs a female lead to co-star, maybe the UFC champion can team up with Wahlberg for another project.
