Ben Affleck’s new Bat-Signal has really let itself go
Ben Affleck will play a more world-weary Bruce Wayne in the upcoming , Batman v Superman, and given these early set photos from Entertainment Weekly, the bat-signal has grown older — and heftier — along with him.
You likely picture the bat-signal in its lithe earlier incarnations. Well, feast your eyes on the new blocky, undefined Bat-Signal.

For your memory, here is what older Bat-Signals have looked like, rounded wings outstretched and extended vertically.

The 1960s Bat-Signal.

The wider, thinner Bat-Signal from Batman Begins.
The new lumpy Bat-Signal appears to reflect the age of the latest incarnation of Batman as played by Affleck. “He’s at the end of his run and maybe the end of his life,’’ Affleck told Entertainment Weekly of the new Bruce Wayne. “There’s this sort of world-weariness to it.’’

In any case, don’t call the new Bat-Signal wrong or incorrect. It’s just interpreted differently.
“Batman is basically the American version of Hamlet,’’ Affleck told EW. “We accept that he’s played by actors with different interpretations.’’
