‘The Notebook’ Turns 10 Today, Watch Rachel McAdams’ Audition Tape
It’s been 10 years since “The Notebook’’ hit theaters — and I still cry every time I watch it.
There aren’t a ton of movies that hit me that way (“E.T.’’ is one, judge me), but once a year, I subject myself to watching Noah and Allie’s love story unfold all the same.
When the film hit theaters on June 25, 2004, Rachel McAdams was a hardly-known Canadian actress who took on the lead role in one of Generation Y’s most iconic love stories. Today we look back at her audition tape (above).
With the camera focused directly on her, McAdams read for what ended up being her character, Allie, while her counterpart, Ryan Gosling, read from afar for his character, Noah.
The chemistry between the pair (who eventually dated in real life) is palpable, even with Gosling off-screen.
It’s no wonder McAdams won the part.
Now it’s time to go home and celebrate 10 years of a love story that will never get old. If I have puffy eyes at work tomorrow, you’ll all know why.
