Concepts and New Balance just created this Cape Cod-inspired sneaker

The shoe drops Aug. 7.

The New Balance x Concepts 327 Cape Sneaker. Tak Sakamoto for Concepts

Boston-based companies Concepts and New Balance created a sneaker inspired by Cape Cod that “brings to life the best of New England.”

The New Balance x Concepts ‘Cape’ 327 sneaker, available Aug. 7, is a  “vibrant update to a timeless classic” featuring a cranberry-colored suede and nylon upper and custom co-branding on the tongue and insole, according to a press release.

“Joined together by a shared Boston heritage, Concepts and New Balance design teams drew inspiration from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, an area known for its scenic cranberry bogs,” wrote the company in a press release. “The sneaker plays on the beloved cocktail named after the region, the ‘Cape Codder,’ or more widely known as the Vodka Cranberry.”

The teams chose a green molded ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA) midsole to represent the lime in the drink and a translucent ice blue rubber outsole — a first-time treatment for the 327 silhouette, according to the release.

“The partnership with New Balance is constantly evolving,” said Deon Point, creative director of Concepts, in the release. “We’ve enjoyed bringing energy to new silhouettes, with the 327 grabbing our attention upon first reveal.”

The shoe costs $140.

It will be available exclusively at Concepts retail stores and www.cncpts.com on Aug. 7 and see a wider release on Aug. 13.
