Friends and colleagues celebrate the life and career of news anchor Tom Ellis
Politicians and media types gathered at the Seaport Hotel Wednesday to honor news anchor Tom Ellis, who died April 29 at the age of 86. Speakers included Ellis’s wife, Arlene, Mayor Martin J. Walsh, former mayor Ray Flynn, former attorney general Frank Bellotti, plus many of Ellis’s TV news colleagues and friends including WGBH-TV’s Emily Rooney, WBZ Radio’s Dan Rea, the Rev. Liz Walker, NBC10’s JC Monahan and sports guy Chris Collins. Also on hand were CBS Boston GM Mark Lund and former newsies Jorge Quiroga, Sarah Ann Shaw, and Ron Gollobin. The event was organized by Ellis’s close friend, PR consultant George Regan, and bluesman James Montgomery performed “Amazing Grace.’’
